چکیده

Sympa was designed to manage multiple mailing lists built on a common base, rather than being only side-byside mailing lists without any link between them. The system's architecture puts the virtual mailing list servers under the control of the various listmasters, each of which manages its own set of mailing lists. Like Apache’s virtual host, Sympa can manage numerous mailing list services (called Virtual robots) within a single installation. These virtual robots share the same code and a set of configuration files, including web templates and authorization scenarios, which means that only a limited set of parameters must be customized at the virtual robot level. The same inheritance principles also apply to the mailing lists themselves, thus making their configuration lighter.

S/MIME and Sympa mailing lists manager / Using signature and encryption with a mailing list manager

Preface The development was initiated in 1997. The goal was to replace a previous mailing lists server "TULP", initiated in 1992 to organize the Bitnet services migration and was used essentially by French universities. Since April 97, Sympa development provided by the French academic network team (CRU) and distributed under Gnu Public Licence. Now Sympa includes a lot of sophisticated features...

From Proxy Encryption Primitives to a Deployable Secure-Mailing-List Solution

Proxy encryption schemes transform cipher-text from one key to another without revealing the plain-text. Agents that execute such transformations are therefore minimally trusted in distributed systems leading to their usefulness in many applications. However, till date no application of proxy encryption has been deployed and used in practice. In this work we describe our efforts in developing a...

Shibboleth: Private Mailing List Manager

We describe Shibboleth, a program to manage private Internet mailing lists. Differing from other mailing list managers, Shibboleth manages lists or groups of lists which are closed, or have membership by invitation only. So instead of focusing on automating the processes of subscribing and unsubscribing readers, we include features like SMTP forgery detection, prevention of outsiders’ ability t...

Access Control in a World of Software Diversity

We describe a new design for authentication and access control. In this design, principals embody a flexible notion of authentication. They are compound principals that reflect the identities of the programs that have executed, even those of login programs. These identities are based on a naming tree. Our access control lists are patterns that recognize principals. We show how this design suppo...
